Romanticism is an intellectual movement where individuals wrote about their thoughts, emotions, and actions that were rebellious to society’s common standard thought. The genre started in the first half of European 19th century culture. Writers such as Wordsworth, Keats, and Shelley broke up the literary genres into other genres. Narrative verses were in favor of Wordsworth while gothic novels were in favor of Poe and Hoffmann. Creative works of literature spurred from the 18th century standard genres. The result of romanticism was the appreciation of nature where they found themselves through traveling in the works of their own genres.

Romanticism is a movement that started in Europe in the late 1700's. The writers during this time were rebelling against the established rules of society they were defying them by using writing and art. The writers started to separate from the neoclassic writing and started to express their own feelings and their affection toward nature.Coldriege and Wordsworth are a few writers in the first generation in which they used romanticisnsm to express their inner feelings leaving intellectual reason behind, this would lead in a revolution between their peers. This new way of writing freed them from the established rules of writing.

Romanticism was more widespread, both in its origins and influence. No other movement has had comparable variety, reach, and staying power since the end of the Middle Ages.Beginning in Germany and England in the 1770s, by the 1820s it had swept through Europe. Beginning in the last decades of the 18th century, it transformed poetry, the novel, drama, painting, sculpture, all forms of concert music (especially opera), and ballet. It was deeply connected with the politics of the time, echoing people's fears, hopes, and aspirations. It was the voice of revolution at the beginning of the 19th century and the voice of the Establishment at the end of it. This last shift was the result of the triumph of the class which invented, fostered, and adopted as its own the romantic movement.

The romantic movement is when artists were able to express their views in an unrealistic form. Their desire for a change or their shift of emotions from society was a rejection of the englightment but in a way the artists were englightened by their works of art. They cultivated and shifted views of thinking in literature and in politics. It was a new view in viewing themselves and things around them. Romanticism involves some traditions but in a spiritual sense.

The romantic movement occurred in almost every country in Europe and in the United States from 1750 to 1870. During this time, literature shifted away from classical and neoclassical conventions. Instead, it emphasized imagination, intuition, irrationality, emotions, and the supernatural rather than reason, logic, or science. This movement was inspired by the writings of the philosopher Rousseau, who championed the “common man,” and also by the preface to “Lyrical Ballads,” in which Wordworth and Coleridge espoused feeling and sensibility.

The Romantic movement in literature is a re-evaluation of the nature of art and the role of the artist in society. Romantic literature branched out from the world of natural science, mathematics and logic, creating a new style of writing that focused on human emotion and expression. Its emphasis is to express human freedom of emotions. Sincerity, spontaneity, and originality became the new standards in literature, replacing the imitation of classical models favored by 18th‐century neoclassicism. During this movement, poetry undergoes a major revival led by writers such as Wordsworth, Keats, and Shelley. With wars being waged all over Europe, especially in France, Romanticism embraced the ideas of freedom and liberty. A typical hero in Romantic literature is one who defies society and its rule in order to obtain freedom and happiness.

Occurring in the second half of the 18th century in Western Europe, Romanticism is a complex, intellectual, and artistic movement. Romanticism is used to revolt against aristocratic and social and political norms of the Age of Enlightenment through visual arts, music, and literature. It reaches beyond the rational ideal to elevate medievalism and elements of art and narrative in an attempt to escape the confines of the population growth. The Romantic Movement led to a rise in the number of great writers, poets, and artists. Keats is one of the principal poets of the Romantic Movement; he influences many English poets with the vivid imagery and sensual style from his work. Another romantic figure is Lord Byron who personified the Romantic Movement in his life and in his multi-faceted writings. Keats and Byron constitute a phase of Romanticism in Britain during a time of war where Romanticism plays a vital role in the national awakening.

Romanticism is a movement during the 18th-19th centuries that emphasizes more on the individual. This art of style focuses on emotion over reason and so on. This movement originated in Europe at a time where things were more bland and textbooked. This is an intellectual and artistic movement that was brought up in literature, phiosophy, religion, art and politics. Everything became more dramatic. People were not afraid to express themselves. Keats, Shelly, Coleridge and Wordsworth are all big writers during this era and influenced many. John Williams during this time created the infamous sound in "Star Wars" which became the sound of this period of time.

Romanticism is the worldwide movement that began in Europe and transcended to the United States some time after. It emphasizes the individual, imagination, intuition, feelings, and nature through the forms of art, (paintings), music, and literature, including poetry. Such English romantic poets as Byron, Shelley, Robert Burns, Keats, Robert Southey, and William Cowper are English romantic poets who encouraged the importance of the individual and its reaction to life. Romanticism influenced other literary movements such as transcendentalism. This artistic and philosophical movement is present in literature because Romanticism esteemed the significance of symbols in literature. Symbols could express infinite beliefs.

Well in music, romanticism has had a great impact and has been going on since the 1820's. Romantic composers such as Beethoven and Mozart (technically considered classical, but still had elements of romanticism) were the highlight of the music period at that time, being extremely famous for their type of music. The romantic era had a great impact in Opera and caused for successful music still listened to today.

Through the music, people can see that romanticism is a focus on the individual work that one sets forth. Beethoven wrote all his music and composed it, showing his romantic style of creation. In this time, people were not afraid of trying new types of things and were open to many types of ideas. People always came up with new ideas and that gave change to music. Emotions were the backbone of this and ignored science and facts for a time, to truly see what happens in our world when you only allow yourself to take it all in.

Also seen in nature.

The Romantic Period emphasizes in imagination, creativity, the value of art and the self. This movement occurred during between the 18th and 19th century where its roots can be found in the work of Immanuel Kant. Kant believed in the idea of moving from the objective to the subjunctive; human beings do not see the world directly, but through a number of categories. A romantic painting is generally characterized by a highly imaginative and subjective approach, emotional intensity, and a dreamlike or visionary quality. Another Romantic poet is Keats, who influenced the use of Romanticism in other poets. Romanticism strives to express by suggestion states of feeling too intense, mystical, or elusive to be clearly defined. It is also a rebellion against established social rules and conventions.
